Weather cuts short Sapporo; 1st round results final

SAPPORO, Japan  — The jury canceled the final round of jumping Saturday in Sapporo's World Cup event due to weather conditions, a disappointing first day of competitions in a country where the sport is hugely popular.

First results counted as the competition's final results leaving France's Coline Mattel in first with a more than 8 point advantage over Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, of Austria. Anette Sagen, NOR, was 3rd and home country favorite and 2013 Junior World Champion Sara Takanashi, JPN, finished 12th.

U.S. jumpers Sarah Hendrickson finished 7th, Jessica Jerome 10th, Lindsey Van 28th, and Abby Hughes 34th.

The event continues Sunday with another competition on the K90 hill. Watch facebook.com/wsjusa for immediate results.
